The Christmas Countdown Begins on December 1st

The countdown to Christmas has officially started at Santa Santa Claus now that Santa Claus is back from his Summer Holidays!

Already Santa’s little helpers; the Elves; are busy in Santa’s Workshop making toys and gifts for everyone on Santa’s nice list, so Santa Claus and his reindeer sleigh can deliver sackfuls of Christmas gifts in the early hours of the morning of 25th December Christmas Day.

When do the Twelve Days of Christmas start?

The 12 twelve days of Christmas are the festive days beginning the first day of Christmas 25th December; known also as Christmas Day, Christmastide or Twelvetide depending where you live.

The 12th Twelfth Day of Christmas is 5th January with Twelfth night being celebrated on the evening of January 5th, at the end of which all your Christmas decorations must be taken down.

The 12 Twelve Days of Christmas (and nights) are celebrated in different ways around the world. For example, in some parts of the world, giving and receiving gifts is traditional on Christmas Day only, whilst in other parts gifts are exchanged on Twelfth Night only; and in some part, gifts are given on each of the 12 twelve nights ; IF you’ve been especially good all year and are on Santa Claus’ extra special nice list!

Santa’s Sleigh Gets Its First Pre-Flight Inspection for Christmas 2026

There was a little more activity than usual outside Santa’s sleigh hangar this week.

A team of North Pole elves rolled open the big wooden doors, brought out their toolboxes and checklists, and began the first full inspection of Santa’s sleigh ahead of Christmas Eve.

No, Santa isn’t taking off quite yet. There are still plenty of months to go before Christmas! But at the North Pole, a sleigh responsible for one very important trip around the world gets more than a last-minute checkup.

“We start early so there are no surprises later,” said Pip Tinkerton, one of the elves helping with the inspection. “Santa has a lot of stops to make. We want everything working perfectly.”

Checking the Sleigh From Runners to Bells

The inspection began underneath the sleigh, where elves carefully examined its famous runners.Every inch was checked for tiny scratches, dents and other signs of wear left over from last Christmas. The runners will eventually be polished and tested on several different kinds of snow and ice.

Another team climbed aboard to inspect Santa’s navigation equipment.While Santa and the reindeer know their way around the world remarkably well, the sleigh carries special North Pole instruments that help the crew keep track of weather, timing and the journey ahead.

There was even an inspection of the bells.

According to the elves, every sleigh bell has to produce exactly the right Christmas Eve jingle.

A Very Important Cargo Check

Of course, Santa’s sleigh needs room for more than Santa.The cargo area received plenty of attention, too.Elves checked the fasteners, doors and special compartments used to keep Santa’s enormous toy sack secure during flight. Later this year, the sleigh will undergo several loading tests as Santa’s Workshop gets busier.

One elf told the North Pole Newsroom that the cargo team is always looking for ways to make loading and unloading a little faster.

Considering how many homes Santa visits in one night, even a few saved seconds can make a difference!

And Then There’s the Christmas Magic

Not everything aboard Santa’s sleigh can be inspected with an ordinary wrench.

Near the end of the day, a small team from the North Pole’s Christmas Magic Department arrived to examine several parts of the sleigh that reporters were politely asked not to touch.

Exactly how those systems work remains a closely guarded North Pole secret.

We did spot a faint sparkle underneath the sleigh for a moment, followed by an elf saying, “Yep, that’s working.”

We’ll take his word for it.

The first inspection is expected to continue over the next several days. After that, the sleigh will return to the hangar while elves prepare for the next round of testing.

There will be many more checks before Santa and his reindeer take to the sky on Christmas Eve.

For now, though, Santa’s sleigh has officially taken its first small step toward Christmas.

And we’ll be keeping an eye on it.

Meet the Elves Behind Santa’s Naughty & Nice Records

Deep inside Santa’s North Pole headquarters, tucked away behind a snowy hallway lined with shelves of sparkling red and green record books, you’ll find one of the busiest offices at the North Pole.

It’s the home of the Naughty & Nice Records Department, where a dedicated team of cheerful elves works all year long to help Santa prepare for Christmas.

Despite what many people imagine, there isn’t one giant list sitting on Santa’s desk. Instead, dozens of hardworking elves carefully organize information, update magical records, and make sure everything is ready long before Christmas Eve arrives.

“The biggest job isn’t deciding who’s on the Nice List,” laughed Chief Record Keeper Holly Inkwell. “It’s making sure every name is written correctly and every magical record is in the right place!”

Each morning, the elves gather around a giant enchanted map that glows with tiny twinkling lights from every corner of the world. As children grow, move to new homes, or welcome new brothers and sisters into their families, the magical records gently update so Santa always has the most accurate information available.

One group of elves specializes in organizing names by country and language. Another carefully files Christmas wish lists that arrive at the North Pole Post Office throughout the year. A third team double-checks every record using magical feather quills that sparkle whenever everything has been reviewed correctly.

Of course, the office isn’t all work.

Sometimes an elf accidentally sneezes glittering Christmas dust across an entire stack of papers, sending hundreds of magical snowflakes floating through the room. Other days, someone misplaces their favorite peppermint pencil, leading to an office-wide search that usually ends with lots of laughter.

One of the department’s most unusual helpers isn’t even an elf.A friendly snowy owl named Frost delivers important messages between Santa’s office and the records department several times each day. The owl always seems to know exactly where to fly, even during the biggest North Pole snowstorms.

As Christmas gets closer, the pace inside the department becomes even more exciting. More elves arrive to help organize the final records while Santa occasionally stops by to thank everyone for their hard work. Mrs. Claus often brings warm cocoa and fresh cookies to keep the busy team smiling during long afternoons.

If you’ve ever wondered whether Santa really keeps track of children around the world, the answer is yes—but with plenty of kindness, encouragement, and Christmas magic along the way.

The elves say that Christmas isn’t about being perfect. Instead, they love seeing children help others, show kindness, listen to their parents, share with friends, and spread happiness wherever they go. Those are the moments that make everyone at the North Pole smile.

“Kindness is our favorite thing to record,” said one smiling elf as he carefully closed another magical record book.

North Pole Radio Engineers Begin Annual Broadcast System Tests

Even though Christmas is still a few months away, things are getting a little busier at North Pole Radio! This week, a team of cheerful elf engineers officially began testing the station’s magical broadcast equipment to make sure everything is ready before the holiday season arrives.

Every year, millions of children tune in to hear festive Christmas music, special announcements from the North Pole, and exciting updates as Santa’s big journey gets closer. To make sure every broadcast sounds crystal clear, the elves spend weeks checking microphones, speakers, antennas, and even a little North Pole magic.

“It’s one of our favorite jobs of the year,” said Chief Radio Engineer Tinsel Spark. “We want every child to hear the joy of Christmas loud and clear!”

Inside the radio station, the halls are filled with cheerful activity. Some elves carefully polish the giant candy cane microphones while others organize thousands of classic Christmas songs into the station’s magical music library. A few busy helpers even test the jingle bells that play between broadcasts to make sure they ring with their familiar holiday sparkle.

One important part of the testing is making sure the station can quickly switch to special Santa Tracker announcements when Christmas Eve arrives. Although Santa won’t begin his worldwide journey for several more months, the broadcast systems must be ready long before then. Elf technicians perform practice drills throughout the summer and fall so everything works perfectly when Santa takes to the skies.

Of course, not every test goes exactly as planned.

During one equipment check this week, a curious penguin waddled into the control room and accidentally stepped on the “North Pole Snowstorm Sound Effects” button. Suddenly, every speaker in the building filled with howling wind, jingling sleigh bells, and swirling snow noises! It took several giggling elves a few minutes to discover the tiny visitor hiding behind a stack of music books.

“At least we know those sound effects still work,” laughed DJ Jingles.

The engineers also spend time listening for mysterious bursts of static. Sometimes it’s caused by icy weather, while other times it’s simply a playful elf carrying too much magical Christmas dust near the broadcasting equipment. Either way, every tiny problem is carefully fixed before opening day.

Outside the station, colorful signal lights now blink throughout the evening as antennas are tested high above the snowy rooftops of the North Pole Village. If you happen to see an extra sparkle in the northern sky, don’t worry—it might just be another successful radio test.

While Christmas may seem far away, every department across the North Pole is already preparing. Reindeer continue their summer exercises, the workshop is carefully inspecting toys, the Post Office has started receiving early letters from excited children, and now the radio station is making sure holiday music and important announcements will be ready when the season officially begins.

Mrs. Claus Begins Her Annual Christmas Cookie Taste Tests

The sweet smell of cinnamon, vanilla, and freshly baked cookies filled the air this week as Mrs. Claus officially began her annual 

Christmas cookie taste tests at the North Pole.

While many people think cookie baking doesn’t begin until December, Mrs. Claus smiles every time she hears that.

“Oh my goodness,” she laughed while pulling another tray from the oven. “If we waited until December, Santa wouldn’t have nearly enough cookies to enjoy on Christmas Eve!”

Each summer, Mrs. Claus begins testing recipes that might become part of this year’s Christmas celebrations. Some are old family favorites that have been enjoyed at the North Pole for generations, while others are brand-new creations dreamed up by creative baking elves.

Inside Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen, every countertop is covered with mixing bowls, measuring spoons, colorful sprinkles, and stacks of handwritten recipe books. A giant peppermint-striped rolling pin rests beside a bowl of magical cookie dough while cheerful elves carefully decorate cookies shaped like stars, snowflakes, candy canes, and tiny reindeer.

Of course, every new recipe needs taste testers.

That’s where the Kitchen Cookie Club comes in.

Every afternoon, a small group of volunteer elves gathers around Mrs. Claus’ big wooden table to sample the newest treats. Before anyone takes a bite, they carefully write down what they notice.

“Too crunchy.”

“Needs a little more chocolate.”

“Perfect with hot cocoa!”

“Maybe add peppermint!”

Even Santa occasionally stops by to help.

“I only came in to say hello,” Santa insisted with a grin after reaching for his third cookie.

The elves couldn’t help but giggle.

One of this year’s biggest surprises is a brand-new recipe called Northern Lights Sugar Cookies. These colorful treats sparkle with magical sugar crystals that gently shimmer in shades of green, blue, and purple, just like the beautiful Northern Lights dancing across the Arctic sky.

Another favorite is Mrs. Claus’ Cozy Cocoa Cookie. Soft, chocolatey, and topped with tiny marshmallows, it’s quickly becoming one of the most requested treats in the kitchen.

But don’t worry—Santa’s famous classic chocolate chip cookies aren’t going anywhere.

“Traditions are important,” Mrs. Claus said. “We love trying new recipes, but Christmas wouldn’t feel the same without a few old favorites.”

The kitchen stays busy all year long because Christmas takes a lot of preparation. Bakers carefully write every successful recipe into the North Pole Cookie Book so it can be made again when the holiday season arrives. Every measurement is checked twice, every recipe is tested several times, and every cookie must earn a cheerful smile before it makes the final menu.

The kitchen is also one of the happiest places at the North Pole.

Music from North Pole Radio often fills the room while elves sing along as they stir batter and decorate cookies. Sometimes the reindeer stop by hoping someone accidentally drops a gingerbread treat, while friendly birds gather outside the snowy windows hoping for a few extra crumbs.

Mrs. Claus says her favorite ingredient isn’t flour, butter, or chocolate.

“It’s kindness,” she smiled. “Cookies always taste a little sweeter when they’re made to share with someone you care about.”

As Christmas gets closer, the shelves inside the kitchen will fill with festive tins, ribbon-wrapped cookie boxes, and enough holiday treats to keep every hardworking elf smiling through the busiest season of the year.

Santa’s Sleigh Gets Its First Pre-Flight Inspection for Christmas 2026

There was a little more activity than usual outside Santa’s sleigh hangar this week.

A team of North Pole elves rolled open the big wooden doors, brought out their toolboxes and checklists, and began the first full inspection of Santa’s sleigh ahead of Christmas Eve.

No, Santa isn’t taking off quite yet. There are still plenty of months to go before Christmas! But at the North Pole, a sleigh responsible for one very important trip around the world gets more than a last-minute checkup.

“We start early so there are no surprises later,” said Pip Tinkerton, one of the elves helping with the inspection. “Santa has a lot of stops to make. We want everything working perfectly.”

Checking the Sleigh From Runners to Bells

The inspection began underneath the sleigh, where elves carefully examined its famous runners.

Every inch was checked for tiny scratches, dents and other signs of wear left over from last Christmas. The runners will eventually be polished and tested on several different kinds of snow and ice.

Another team climbed aboard to inspect Santa’s navigation equipment.

While Santa and the reindeer know their way around the world remarkably well, the sleigh carries special North Pole instruments that help the crew keep track of weather, timing and the journey ahead.

There was even an inspection of the bells.

According to the elves, every sleigh bell has to produce exactly the right Christmas Eve jingle.

A Very Important Cargo Check

Of course, Santa’s sleigh needs room for more than Santa.The cargo area received plenty of attention, too. Elves checked the fasteners, doors and special compartments used to keep Santa’s enormous toy sack secure during flight. Later this year, the sleigh will undergo several loading tests as Santa’s Workshop gets busier.

One elf told the North Pole Newsroom that the cargo team is always looking for ways to make loading and unloading a little faster.

Considering how many homes Santa visits in one night, even a few saved seconds can make a difference!

And Then There’s the Christmas Magic

Not everything aboard Santa’s sleigh can be inspected with an ordinary wrench.

Near the end of the day, a small team from the North Pole’s Christmas Magic Department arrived to examine several parts of the sleigh that reporters were politely asked not to touch.Exactly how those systems work remains a closely guarded North Pole secret.

We did spot a faint sparkle underneath the sleigh for a moment, followed by an elf saying, “Yep, that’s working.”

We’ll take his word for it.The first inspection is expected to continue over the next several days. After that, the sleigh will return to the hangar while elves prepare for the next round of testing.

There will be many more checks before Santa and his reindeer take to the sky on Christmas Eve.For now, though, Santa’s sleigh has officially taken its first small step toward Christmas.And we’ll be keeping an eye on it.

I wanted to write you a note to remind you to write Santa a letter this year! There are billions of kids around the world and I do my best to bring everyone presents that they want. The only problem is, unless you tell me what you want I won’t know what to bring! I do read each any every letter that you write to me and I take notes to pass onto the workshop elves (so they can help make the present).

A lot of people ask me why I can’t always respond to each and every letter. I do try to respond to letters when I can, but the North Pole is very busy! With Christmas just a couple of weeks away I have to spend a lot of time in the workshops making sure that the Elves are staying on schedule.

NORTH POLE — Have you ever wondered what it really takes to stay on Santa’s Nice List?

Here’s a little North Pole secret: Santa doesn’t expect anyone to be perfect.That’s right! Even the kindest children make mistakes sometimes. What matters most is trying your best, learning from your choices, and showing kindness to the people around you every single day.

To help answer one of the questions we receive most often at the North Pole Newsroom, we stopped by Santa’s workshop for a quick chat.Santa smiled, adjusted his glasses, and shared this message:

“Being kind isn’t something you only do in December. Every day is another chance to make someone smile.”

So what does that mean for kids? Let’s take a closer look

Kindness Counts More Than You Think

Many children imagine the Nice List is based on giant, heroic acts. While helping your community is wonderful, Santa says the smallest acts of kindness often make the biggest difference.

Holding a door open.

Sharing your toys.

Helping a younger brother or sister.

Saying “thank you.”

Including someone who feels left out during recess.

These little moments may seem small, but together they tell a big story about the kind of person you’re becoming

Good Choices Add Up

At the North Pole, the elves like to say that kindness works a little like building a snowman.

One snowflake doesn’t make much of a difference.

But when thousands of snowflakes come together, something amazing appears.

Making good choices works the same way. Every honest answer, every helpful hand, every kind word, and every apology when you’ve made a mistake all add up over time.That’s why Santa watches for patterns—not perfection.

What If You Have a Bad Day?

Everyone has bad days.

Maybe you forgot to clean your room.

Maybe you argued with a friend.

Maybe you said something you wish you hadn’t.

The important thing isn’t pretending it never happened.

Instead, apologize if you’ve hurt someone, make things right when you can, and try again tomorrow.

Even the elves make mistakes once in a while. (Just don’t ask Jingle the Toy Tester about the time he accidentally wrapped his own lunch inside a present!)

Santa says learning from mistakes is one of the best signs that someone has .
